Digital Technology goes P!nk

P!nk is full of character; P!nk teaches, P!nk learns…P!nk is a humanoid robot. “The ‘magic’ of P!nk enthuses students to collaboratively create technical solutions aligned with numeracy, literacy and the new Digital Technology curriculum. More than anything….P!nk is fostering critical and creative thinking, collaborative problem solving and computational thinking – all essential skills and dispositions for life today and tomorrow.”

During Term 2 Good Shepherd Lutheran School were privileged to be involved in a project through the Association of Independent Schools of SA (AISSA) in collaboration with 3 national universities, to provide data looking at the “impact of Humanoid Robots on student learning.” P!nk joined our Stage 4 classes (Year 5/6). The students were immersed in the language of code as they investigated big questions in their unit of inquiry. The project culminated in our school students featuring on the ABC 4Corners TV program “Future Proof”.

Our students demonstrated programs they created for P!nk and discussed the learning they will need for the future employment landscape, a landscape they will share with robots. This was a rich and rigorous learning opportunity for our Stage 4 students. We look forward to further coding opportunities continuing at Good Shepherd.
